We outreach to these seniors in the following ways:
In 2011, our Senior Guide O.C. and education programs provided vital information/resources on aging and caregiving to over 85,000 seniors and their families.
Our HICAP staff and volunteers have provided Medicare presentations to 53,234 seniors and 5,700 one-on-one sessions to Medicare recipients last year – the most in California – saving Orange County residents approximately $1,987,780.
Our Care Management Program has provided direct, in-home consultations and care management plans to 768 seniors and provided 1,384 hours of caregiver respite, allowing seniors to continue living independently in their own homes and avoiding costly transition into residential care facilities.
88 Friendly Visitor volunteers made 4,200 hours of telephone calls or home visits to isolated seniors last year.
68 certified Ombudsman serve as advocates for 28,000 seniors and disabled adults living in skilled nursing facilities and assisted living homes. Approximately 14,000 do not have anyone looking out for them.
Each Ombudsman advocates on behalf of approximately 411 seniors.
In 2011, we provided financial abuse education to 4,800 seniors through our Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST).
