Who Ombudsmen Help

Our Ombudsmen serve as residential advocates for 28,000 seniors and disabled adults living in over 1,000 skilled nursing facilities and assisted living homes. Ombudsmen investigate resident complaints of neglect and abuse as well as mediate and resolve concerns or problems. They also witness Advanced Health Care Directives as mandated by state and federal law.

Ombudsmen also help educate families and the community on issues of long-term care as well as making informed decisions in selecting a residential care facility for their loved one. Contact us or view our Resource Guide articles for further information:

All licensed skilled nursing facilities and residential care facilities for seniors are required by law to prominently display the Ombudsman poster listing our services and contact number.

If you are a resident of a long-term care facility, you are entitled access to an Ombudsman. Please contact us at 1-800-300-6222.

Emergency calls are referred to appropriate resources for immediate action 24 hours a day by calling 1-800-231-4024.
