COASC APPOINTS
TODD HANSON AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

IRVINE, CA, JAN 2022 – The Council on Aging – Southern California (COASC), a leading nonprofit provider in the aging services sector, is pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Hanson to Chief Operating Officer effective January 3, 2022.  In his new role, Mr. Hanson will oversee the program management of county contracts for our Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (in Orange, Riverside, Inyo, Mono, and San Bernardino Counties), the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program (in Orange and Riverside Counties), the Senior Protection Program (in Orange County) and the ReConnect EIOSA Program (in Orange County) and lead the Company’s undertaking to improve efficiency across critical business functions.

Prior to joining COASC, Mr. Hanson was Vice President of the Center for Engaged Philanthropy at Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF).  During his 20-year career there, Todd contributed to the growth of the Community Foundation’s annual grants from $10M to $100M, and the growth of their asset base from $40M to $500M.

While at OCCF, Todd was instrumental in strengthening local nonprofits through grants and supportive resources.  He implemented the OCCF Veteran’s Services Initiative, providing more than $4M to reach more than 25,000 veterans and their families.  Todd was also very effective in incubating new ideas and bringing leaders together to address our community’s most pressing needs.  This includes facilitating the development of Accelerate Change Together Anaheim, a community-based initiative with Disneyland, the Anaheim Ducks, Angels baseball, and 18 other foundations.  This program awarded $6.8M to impact more than 18,900 youth, 5,900 parents and 3,600 adults across the Anaheim area.  Most recently, he created and implemented OCCF’s Social Innovation Fund which supports entrepreneurial ideas and innovative solutions to address our community’s most critical needs.  Todd secured more than $500K in funding for 11 new programs, including the Council on Aging’s Concierge Care Navigators Program.

Beginning his career in 1993, Todd was the Executive Director of Camp Fire Boys and Girls – Orange County Council.  While there he designed and implemented more than 20 new community-based programs serving more than 25,000 children, youth, and families.  He established collaborative relationships with more than 45 community organizations, school districts and government agencies.

In 1991, Mr. Hanson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from California State University, Fullerton.
